The Pedestal Syndrome

Hi Friends,

Today I want to talk to you about a serious condition that I’ve dealt with for years, one that I have been delivered from!! You may have never known it’s name, but you too may have dealt with it as well.

Pedestal Syndrome occurs when you place the dreams of others before your own, or believe in others more than yourself. Some even go as far as thinking of other’s as more beautiful, and deserving of great things, while looking at their own lives, feeling that they are stuck, trapped, and deserving of being there.

I’m not sure when it started, or how…all I know, is I have looked at others and their success and placed them on a pedestal, while feeling that I don’t deserve to make it, because of my past, financial status or looks. Instead of celebrating others, and becoming motivated to get there too, I doubted myself and my own God given abilities.

I remember thinking to myself, wow they must be really special, or “really” talented, they must have something that I don’t, and are more deserving. It’s taken me too long to realize that I was flat out lieing to myself, and that the same God, that created them, created me too. No one is born with an extra dash of perfection.

Through praying and listening to the Holy Spirit, I knew that it was time to be healed and delivered from this mentality. I knew that God had placed purpose, desires, and gifts within me, and that what I needed was to nourish them, encourage myself and read God’s word. Although I may not have been “jealous” of others, I was in the wrong!!

Throughout this journey God has taught me about myself, maturity, and growth. Here are a few things that I’ve learn and some scriptures that may help you as well. Let me encourage you today that God has great plans for you!!! Your age has Nothing, to do with your purpose. Whether your meant to be an anonymous author,  a famous musician, a strong housewife/house husband or a bold business woman/man.

GOD has you right where He wants You! Your future is in His hands and with faith, hard work, & dedication, you too can excel in every area of your life!!!

Don’t compare your parenting style to anyone else, or your face, or your body, or your abilities, or your gifts. You are special, unique, and Defined By Christ!!

“Be strong and Courageous! Do not be afraid of Them! The Lord your God will go ahead of you. He will neither fail you, nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

“For we are God’s masterpiece, He created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago” Ephesians 2:10

“Happy are those who delight in doing what he commands. Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people  will be blessed. They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will never be forgotten.” Psalm 112:1-2

Each of you has been blessed with one of God’s many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well. 1 Peter 4:10

God bless you all,

Kelley Hall
